Paintballing or the Sport of Paintball

Paintballing or the sport of paintball is very young when you compare how long must sporting events of been around. To the average spectator who watches an activity or Paintball event would observe two team or groups running around sliding and hiding behind different structures to prevent the opponents from shooting them with their Markers, the correct term us for the paint guns being fired. While trying hit the opposing team with paint from their markers. Not much has changed since the marker was invented in the early 1970’s.

The Sport officially began in 1981 and was played by a group of twelve friends that used their markers that were use in the forestry and cattle industry to mark the trees and peculiar cattle from the herd.

They got together in New Hampshire the winning team captured the other teams flag. The man that grabbed the other team’s flag ran from his team’s side of the field to the other team base or where they hung their flag and captured the flag without firing a shot from his marker. The others members of the winning team kept firing their markers at their opponents forcing their opponents  to stay behind cover to keep from being hit with the paint being fired from the markers on the winning team side of the field.

That style of Mad dashing forward and to get behind a man made structure is still very visible today when you go to a paintball match to watch or play yourself in a match.

That very next year in 1982 the first outdoor public paintball field open up. Not every state welcomed this new sport it was illegal to openly play paintball matches in New Jersey until 1988 and five more years of lawsuit before the first field open in 1993.

In 1983 the first National Championship was held and the cash prize was a total of $14,000 IN PRIZES.

Since 1996 paintballing tournaments, fields, stores and clubs can be found in these and other countries worldwide.USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia, England, Scotland, Denmark, France, Holland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Africa, Russia, New Zealand, Brazil, Venezuela, Philippines, Germany, Austria, Ireland, Belgium, Greece, Israel, Korea and Thailand.

There are Paintball video games for your x-box, wii, playstation and DS Nintendo games systems.

You can also purchase all that you need to start paintballing at your local sporting goods store or even at a Wal-Mart near you from less than $100 too however much you want to pay. The RAP4 sells for $2000 or more.
