Epitome of cell phone headset

Have you had the problem of answering a call while driving? Many people do. The tendency is they ignore it for fear of putting their life at risk. Why not use a cell phone headset, instead?

A cell phones headset is a useful device to busy people, as they free up the hands to answer business calls and can be easily operated with the use of handy control buttons.

A cell phone headset has a microphone and an earpiece.  A headset also needs to be clipped to the user’s head. A traditional hair clip attaches the headset to the head of a user. However, its design is not so comfortable for their user that’s why an ear clip has been developed. An ear clip is small and handier than hair clip.

Cellular phone headset earpieces are often ear bud attachments that can fit directly into the user’s ear, much the way personal stereos work with their own headphones. They can also come as small speakers that fit as an over the ear headset in the case of ear clip cell phones headset attachments.

The microphone can also be anything from a large mouthpiece that is near the cellular phone user’s mouth to a tiny clip on microphone that can be attached to a person’s shirt collar or other close base.

A cell phones headset can either be wireless or use a slender wire attaching the accessory to the cellular phone. In the case of wireless headsets, the cell phone has a range that can be used, so the client can keep their cell phone in their desk or in a safe storage area.

Traditional cellular phone headsets require that the user clip the cell phone to their belt with a belt clip, keep it in their pocket, or find some other way to carry the cell phones while they use it.

Cellular phone headsets are important for safe, two handed driving habits, and they can work miracles for people in the computer or service industry who may need constant use of their hands for typing or similar activities.

Using a headset is a safe way to counter the effects of radiation? That’s what we all naturally think. But recent studies tend to indicate that this might not always be the case. In fact, one independent test even suggests that using a headset could be worse! Why? Radiation apparently gets inside your ear through the earpiece.

That is what British consumer report magazine “Which?” found out in a study published on April 2000. “Which?” tested three handsfree kits with microphones and earpieces, one radiation shield and a special device that claims to absorb radiation.

First bad news, the shield and the special device did not absorb radiation at the levels advertised. But there is more. “Which?” used the headsets with a model head filled with a gel material to simulate brain tissue. Surprisingly enough, the earpieces in the hands-free kits acted as aerials and actually channeled more radiation into the model than when the phones were used alone!

Does that mean that you should avoid using a headset? We definitely need more studies to answer that question.

“Which?” magazine’s study has already been criticized by experts saying that they did not use standard measurement method. Others have claimed that not all cell phones headsets would have produced that kind of results.
