I read the other day SquareTrade, a site responsible for handling warranties for Microsoft xBox 360, reported a 16.4 percent failure rate for xBox 360 consoles! This is a appalling number of failure for a game, especially coming from Microsoft. I knew about the xBox 360 having crashing problems, but I didn’t realized the problem was this rampant. I can just see the people at the competing brands with a gigantic grin after seeing this report.

One of the biggest problem gamers encounter is overheating of xBox 360 game consoles followed by flashing 3 rings called “Red Ring of Death” among gamers. I have encountered similar problem in the past and there is a simple solution to fix this xBox problem by using the infamous 3 towel trick famed by CheapyD on CNBC.

This is a temporary fix for your xBox 360 that may last for several days or even several month. Here is how you fix your infamous xBox 360 “Red Ring of Death.” The idea behind the 3 towel trick is to get the game console extremely hot and reboot and mysteriously the game console comes back to life.

Here is how you fix xBox 360 Red Ring of Death Problems:

First, Turn off main power to your system and remove all network connections, leaving only the power supply. Then turn the power back on and wrap the game console with 3 or 4 thick towels. Turn the power back on(if you have difficulty finding the power button, turn the power on before you wrap your towel). Let heat up for about 25 to 30 minutes. After 25 to 30 minutes, remove the towels from the game console. Be careful, not to burn yourself at this point, the console will be extremely hot depending on your room condition. Let the system cool down for about 20~25 minutes and reboot. If your xBox 360 still flashes 3 “Red Ring of Death,” you’re out of luck. You definitely need repair. However, the flashing red lights are no longer flashing, then your game console is good to go again. Reconnect all your network connection and play on. You should be good for who knows how long. It can last for couple hours or it can last for days and months.

This is a temporary fix for your xBox 360 problems. The reason you receive those 3 “Red Rings of Death” is because of the overheating problem. Here are few tips you can try to keep your xBox from overheating.

Keep the xBox 360 game console from a confined space. This prevents the vent on the side to get clogged, which ultimately overheats it. Also, try to keep the power supply from overheating. Some user found that keeping a tiny fan on the game console and/or power supply is a good way to keep the xBox 360 from overheating.

If using these tips don’t fix your xBox 360 “Red Rings of Death,” you need to send it out for repair or try to fix it yourself. Remember, if you try to fix it yourself, and break the game box for good, you may not be entitled to warranty service for messing with the box. So, decide wisely. How much do u think to repair a camera if they have to change the lens?

It depends on the brand of camera, and also the model. More often than not, repairing and/or replacing the lens means you are looking at upwards of $150. In my workplace, I’ve seen repairs as high as $300 for lens-related issues. Take your camera over somewhere where you can have it looked at, perhaps they can either help you pick out a new one or give you a better estimate. I think most of us would need to know exactly what is wrong with your camera to give a better estimate.
